Answer a handful of questions and get a firm number back in writing — Causeway backups and a summer thunderstorm already priced in, so nothing extra shows up once the crew does.

Below are the questions we hear most often from people booking a move with High Tech Movers — about how our barcode and GPS tracking actually works, how pricing is set, and what our licensing covers. If you don’t see your question here, call (504) 289-7734 and Adele or Theo can walk you through it.

Are you an actual moving company, or do you just refer me to one?
We're a real, licensed moving company with our own trucks and our own employed crews based in New Orleans — we're not a broker or a referral service that hands your job off to a subcontractor. When you book with High Tech Movers, our crew shows up, our truck does the driving, and our scan sheet tracks the shipment start to finish.
How does the barcode and GPS tracking actually work?
When Adele sets up your estimate, she builds a digital inventory sheet for your move. At pickup, our crew scans a barcode onto each box and major piece of furniture and photographs its condition before it goes on the truck. The truck itself carries a GPS tracker that sends a live position to your phone, so you can see roughly where it is on I-10 or the Causeway. At delivery, every item gets scanned back off and the condition photo gets checked against the one taken at pickup.
How does pricing and the estimate process work?
Adele Broussard handles most estimates herself, either in person or over video, and walks the house or apartment room by room before quoting a price. Local moves are typically priced hourly with a crew-size and truck fee, while long-distance moves are quoted by weight and distance. Either way, you get a written estimate before move day — no surprise line items added after the truck is loaded.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. High Tech Movers is a fully licensed and insured Louisiana household-goods carrier, permitted through the Louisiana Public Service Commission. We carry standard cargo and liability coverage on every shipment, local or long-distance.
Do you handle long-distance moves, or just local?
Both. We run scheduled long-distance moves to Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Hattiesburg, Gulfport, Mobile, Jackson, Houston, and Memphis, with our long-haul driver Corbin Arceneaux handling most of the Gulf Coast runs himself and GPS tracking active for the whole drive.
What actually makes your tracking different from a normal moving company?
Most moving companies still track a shipment on a paper inventory list, if they track it at all. Remy Fontenot built High Tech Movers around freight-industry tools instead — every item gets a barcode scan and a condition photo at pickup and again at delivery, and the truck's location is visible to the customer in real time rather than a promised arrival window.
How far in advance should I book?
Two to three weeks out gives us the most flexibility on crew size and truck availability, especially in summer and around the fall when hurricane season can shift schedules on short notice. That said, we keep some flexibility in the calendar specifically because moves don't always happen on a tidy timeline.
Can you do a last-minute move?
Often, yes. We take last-minute moves regularly — a lease falling through, a storm watch moving your date up, a closing that got rescheduled. Call and we'll tell you honestly whether we can fit you in this week or need to find the next open slot.

What We Commit To

Six Things We Promise On Every New Orleans Move

Every one of these is a working rule, not ad copy — Remy and the crew hold to them on every job across Greater New Orleans, from a shotgun house on a narrow Uptown street to a new build out past LaPlace.

One Crew, No Substitutions

Whoever Adele books you with is who shows up — a slow crossing on the Causeway or a tight turn onto a narrow streetcar-lined street doesn’t change who’s carrying your boxes.

Louisiana-Licensed, Fully Insured

Our Louisiana household-goods carrier license, permitted through the LPSC, stays current year-round, cargo coverage rides with every load, and a certificate of insurance reaches a Metairie or Kenner HOA board the same day they ask for one.

Our Payroll, Never A Staffing Agency

Every mover on your truck draws a paycheck from us directly — Desmond has run the same crew since 2018, and we don’t pad the roster with day labor just because Saturday got busy.

The Estimate Holds, Full Stop

What Adele quotes you is what’s due once the last box comes off the truck, no carve-outs. A backup on the Causeway, a tight carry up a camelback’s narrow staircase, a wait at a Covington gate check-in — that’s ours to absorb, never yours.

Desmond’s Crew, Not A Rotating Cast

The crew Adele confirms at booking is the crew that shows up on move day — nobody gets pulled off your job partway through to cover something else on the schedule.

A Window That Actually Holds

If the job ahead of yours runs long, that’s Theo’s problem to solve from the dispatch dashboard, not yours — you’ll hear from us before it eats into your window, and we make it right if it costs you real time.
